Sergio Gondolo

Sergio Gondolo was born in 1965 in Cuneo, where he still lives. He works in the automotive business and keeps aloof from the literary world. Gondolo is among the younger authors to gain some recognition. He started writing poetry in Piedmontese in 2009 under the encouragement of his mentor Adriano Cavallo. Since then he has been a regular contributor to Piemontèis Ancheuj, and his poems have received honorable mentions in several vernacular poetry competitions. He privileges traditional stanzaic forms to convey his gentle nostalgia for the times gone by.

Father, who are…

Dad, I’m here looking at the moon
caressing all my farthest memories.
Social peace is still far away
among the words that will never find rest.

Dad, I’m looking for a crumb of harmony,
with trust, to extinguish the darkness.
This faded age is exhausted,
soiled too much by our attitude.

Dad, to find again a motivation we must rediscover what is essential.
Our strength is in our emotions
but Dad, we lost have the sense of fraternity.

Now that you are playing in the clouds
all that you taught me resonates with me.
Dad, you are among the strength of the stars,
help me find peace without tears.
